PROJECT IN CONSTRUCTION
About this construction project
This is a unique project located in West Perth. The client saw an opportunity to transform this existing commercial building into a multi use commercial and residential building. With an addition of level 2 to the existing roof and transforming the existing office space on level 01 into a high-end luxury apartment. This apartment will have two floors with two balconies – both with views across West Perth and Totterdell Park. The client chose Gwyth Jones to work in collaboration with Collière Architecture on this construction project at the design development stage.
Commercial construction and high-end residential fit out including a building extension with a 3rd storey added above the existing roofline.
CHALLENGES OF THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The main challenges will be in relation to the interaction of the existing and proposed structure.
These challenges were resolved by having Gwyth Jones involved early on in the construction project, engaging in workshops with the Architect. Other benefits of being involved early on include:
- Exploring value-saving opportunities with respect to all trades
- Ensuring the design intent is achieved whilst still adhering to commercial and residential feasibility constraints
- Calculated decisions can be made on the various options in detailing and methodology that have been discussed to date with the Architect
Gwyth Jones and the client believed that by having us involved early on with the Architect and design team, our input and advice will allow for an accurate understanding of construction costs during the design development, providing the Architect with the ability to make informed decisions during this phase and ensuring that the construction project stays within the Client’s budget.
